10 ships I love that probably won’t make it—>Annie X Abed
Why they are probably doomed:
Dan Harmon has expressed a dedication in creating a mess of chemistry between every character pair in the show, and from the interviews, it sounds like Annie/Abed were just another pit stop in that department. In world, they are a bit of a tragic ship as well. Annie notices Abed the most when he plays the roles of other people. It’s a literal fairy tale romance, in which the romance can only exist in the context of the story that Abed/Annie are roleplaying at the given time.
Why they should be endgame:
Abed has a weakness for Annie. He doesn’t mess with her like he does with everyone else. In that same right, he is her only love interest thus so far who has actually been nice to her, as opposed to Jeff and Troy, who both have basically ignored or stomped on her feelings. Abed values Annie. He sat in an empty room for 26 hours just to make her happy. Now that is dedication. Moreso, Annie plays along with Abed’s games. She goes into his fantasy world where he is the most comfortable and she doesn’t question it for a second. In fact, she celebrates it. These two just have so much explosive chemistry, and they really are the best (and weirdest) fit in the entire Community ship spectrum.

j—lannister proposed coupling all characters in the study group (minus Pierce and Shirley, due to age and civil status, respectively) as a way to open up to all other ships in the fandom, and understand each other better (or something like that, it’s been a while, and my memory is not what it used to be).
I tried naming all of the couples basing myself on clichés and tropes. j—lannister helped me name some of the couples, and others, I just ignored her and did whatever the hell I felt like doing.
To be honest, when I first started I didn’t think I’d finish, because I never really stick up to working on these things, so being done with this has been a pleasant surprise.
Jeff/Britta - THE MARRIED COUPLE
My intention was to make all of these fanarts to look like story-book illustrations, but apparently, I was able to only stick to that look for a couple of them. This is still one of my favourites, because it’s exactly what I wanted to do.
I chose the name “The Married Couple” because of the “they bicker like an old married couple” cliché.
Show call-backs: Jeff’s underwear; Britta’s mug for Jeff has a drawing of a cat (because Britta loves cats); Britta’s drinking (green) tea.
Troy/Annie - THE SCHOOL SWEETHEARTS
I hate this illustration with all my heart. I’d pictured something kind of nice on my mind, but my hand did not feel like translating that into paper. Also, the “T+A 4ever ♥” were supposed to be like the silly things a girl inlove writes in her notebook, but I realized too late that it also looks like another kind of “T&A”s… and while I love uninentional puns, it just looks shitty here.
Sorry, Troy/Annie shippers :(Show call-backs: None in particular, other than Annie’s yellow swearer and Troys striped one.
Jeff/Annie- THE MAY-DECEMBER
This was so much better in my mind. I blame it on my lack of skill at using markers. This is my OTP still, but I thought it would be an asshole-ish thing to do if I drew them making out and rubbing it all over your faces.
In case you didn’t notice, the trees on Annie’s side are green and young, while the one behind Jeff is dying. ~ V I S U A L M E T A P H O R ~Show call-backs: None in particular, but Annie’s and Jeff’s outfits are my favourites from this season.
Abed/Britta- THE TABLE BUDDIES
This one was a nightmare to finish. First, because I’m terrible at drawing backgrounds. Second, because I couldn’t find screencaps that had shots from this precise angle. Third, because all my blue and grey markers decided to die as I colored this.
I had no idea what to name them so, thanks, j—lannister!!Show call-backs: “CLASSIC WINGERS” is engraved on Abed’s side of the table.
Abed/Annie - THE ACTORS
I would like to apologize to Abed/Annie shippers for drawing the worst kiss ever. I meant to do something awesome and epic but, I guess my subconscious betrayed me. I don’t really ship them.

The background is orange, like the paint raining on them when they kissed during paintball. I used a screencap of the Jeff and Annie S1 finale kiss for reference.
Jeff/Shirley - THE UNHOLY MATRIMONY
I don’t know where this came from. I was there one day, and suddenly the idea of Jeff and Shirley making out seemed really hot. I still think it is, and I do believe Shirley intimidates Jeff sexually :P

Troy/Shirley - THE UNEXPECTED LITTLE SECRET
Once I drew Jeff and Shirley, I assumed I had to draw her with the other two guys. This one was kind of impossible, because other than the “yeah, I could hit that” look both gave each other during the epic study-room-table scene, they haven’t really interacted all that much.
I didn’t know what to name them, so I went with the worst possible title.Show call-backs: None.
Abed/Shirley - THE NEW FAMILY
This one was a lot easier after I remembered this outtake where Danny asks Yvette “do these kids need a new father?” and she replies “why yes, they do!” Not to forget all those actor-on-actor loving twitpics…
Show call-backs: Abed’s “Mr. Rogers” outfit worn during Critical Film Studies, and Chang’s “fatherly” pipe.
Troy/Britta - THE COUGAR
So this is turned out hotter than expected… I know some people weren’t really happy with how their first kiss went down, so I made up a whole different story in my mind… that I totally forgot and am therefore unable to share with you anymore.
Also, I know that she’s not old enough to qualify as a cougar but, screw you. You come up with a better name and I’ll change it.Show call-backs: None, other than Britta’s theatre clothes.
Jeff/Abed - THE MANCRUSH
I honestly ship this. I think Abed has a huge mancrush on Jeff (he thinks Jeff is as cool as Bill Myurray, wanted his shirt, *eyebrow waggle*, has lunch in Jeff’s car,…), and I think Abed is the one member in the study group that really makes Jeff a better person. I don’t expect this to ever happen in the show, but I love Jeff and Abed interactions.
I realized how much I like this ship after noticing all the crazy detail that went into it (if you’ve ever used chartpak markers, you know what I mean… those things bleed all over the place).Show call-backs: They’re re-enacting the 16 Candles kiss scene, kind of like what they did on the Chicken Fingers episode :P
Troy/Abed - THE BROMANCE
Everybody ships it. I don’t really. I think their relationship is too innocent and “pure” to be “corrupted” by sex and stuff. I like how Troy has hinted that Abed is his “other half,” and I don’t doubt that… but I picture their sex scenes as… really awkward…
I wanted this to look a bit more innocent, but I don’t think such a thing can be achieved when you’re dealing with grown men in tiny underoos.Show call-backs: BLANKET FORT! Kickpuncher Trilogy; Abed’s sleepwear seen on S2 premiere; Troy’s wine-red undies from the bottle episode.
Britta/Annie - THE COLLEGE EXPERIENCE
In order to avoid any kind of “OMG THIS IS DEGRADING”-like comments (like the ones the GQ photoshoot received), let me clarify that this is a joke. A parody on the “girls pillowfighting + experimenting in college” cliché.

Jeff/Troy - THE ALPHA MALES
I’m a slasher. I love slash. I used to draw it a lot, very often, and it wasn’t always PG-13. I was terrified of making this too homoerotic, because it’s what I really wanted to do. I like how Troy turned out (even if it doesn’t look like him), but I hate what the colors did to this piece. I might edit it later on so the colors and composition please my eyes.
I called it “the alpha males” because that’s what they both are. The S2 finale was all about two dudes fighting over dominance of the group. This is me objectifying both of them. I think we really need a “baywatch” episode on season 3, and maybe a wet t-shirt contest for the guys too…Show call-backs: Gym shorts; gym outfit from the flashback episode; the “give me back my bra” scene.
